Let’s be honest… I could care less who wins the Superbowl this year. Aside from a slight crush on Tom Brady, I’m just not a football fan. I am, however, a fan of Superbowl parties– it’s a great excuse to have some friends and family over and eat some delicious munchies.
This year, my family is having a potluck over at my grandma’s for Superbowl and I’m still not entirely sure what I’ll be bringing. I’ve been scouring the web and my favorite food blogs to come up with some yummy dishes and finger foods, so if you’re in the same boat and need a few ideas on what to serve/bring to your Superbowl party (or any game day/ tailgating feast), try one of these. Best part? They’re not all entirely bad for you, I included several healthier options of game day favorites as well!
What’s better than melted cheese and beer? When they’re put together of course! HonestlyYum
serves up a mean plate of their Superbowl Beer Nachos.
Chili is a Superbowl staple– it’s easy to cook up a big batch for everyone and there’s so many varieties– turkey, green/white chili, all meat, beans whatever you like. My favorite is a classic beef and bean chili, such as this recipe from Fabtastic Eats
Need a vegan- friendly option? I made this delicious lentil and bean slow-cooked chili from Two Peas and Their Pod
this week and it was phenom!
It’s just not Superbowl without the buffalo wings. For a healthier option and to mix it up, serve up these Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps from The Hopeless Housewife.
No fork required, just pick up and eat!
Potato skins are one of my favorite munchies– especially slathered in cheese and sour cream but they’re not exactly high on the healthy list. To fill that craving but keep the calories down, try these Mini Loaded Potatoes from The Curvy Carrot. How cute are they??
If you’re not at all worried about the calories and want something ooey, gooey and cheesy, this Queso Fundido
from What’s Gaby Cooking is the ultimate of cheese dips.
Chicken, beef, veggie, pulled pork… sliders come in all different types. Me? For game day, I’ll stick with the all-American Cheeseburger Sliders
topped with my favorite condiments and classic burger fixin’s.
My co-worker is always talking about these Sriracha Turkey Meatballs she makes and for good reason– they are good and spicy! I came across this similar recipe from Budget Bytes
that sounds just as amazing!
What’s a party without a 7-Layer Dip? Layers of cheese, salsa, beans, guacamole… lighten it up with this recipe from iFood Real.
You could bring a bag of pretzels to your Superbowl party but how awesome would you look bringing these Mini Pretzel Bites from Center Cut Cook
instead? Serve up these lil guys with a mustard dipping sauce, or even a melted cheese dip.
Last mini item, I promise! Add some more fun to your Superbowl party with Mini Pizzas- prep the dough ahead of time and set out an array of toppings and let your guests make their own! How delicious do these prosciutto fontina pizzas with caramelized onion from Food Plus Words
With all the savory munchies, every party needs it’s sweets as well. These Football Rice Krispie Treats from Thats What He Said
are a snap to make– just use store bought frosting for a football decorative touch!
I hope these recipes helped provide you with inspiration for your game day party, what I love about them is that you don’t need to be a chef or use crazy ingredients to make these awesome munchies. Whether you’re watching the game or not, I hope you have a wonderful Superbowl weekend!
