Oh man, have I got a sweet recipe for you to try out this weekend, and like most of my recipes I share, it is SO easy. Yes, easy homemade no-churn chocolate chip ice cream. I was actually surprised at how simple this recipe is—few ingredients, simple directions and no churning or ice cream maker needed. The perfect treat for this hot, HOT weekend!
I have wanted to make a no-churn ice cream for a few months now and was so happy to find a few different recipes that I could base mine from. I decided to keep mine super simple but if you’re looking for options, I recommend this mint chip recipe (it has rum!) and this peach ice cream recipe.
Homemade No-Churn Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Recipe adapted from Honestly Yum
Ingredients:
1 ¼ cup Heavy Whipping Cream
⅔ cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
½ cup Mini Chocolate Chips (or chopped larger chips or chocolate pieces, whatever floats your boat)
4-6 Sugar Cones
Additional ⅛ cup of Chocolate Chips for cone dipping
Using a mixer on medium speed, whip together the chilled cream, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Fold in the chocolate chips. Pour cream mixture into a freezer safe dish (I used a cake pan, a loaf pan would work great as well) and spread evenly. Freeze for 4-6 hours to set.
When ice cream is ready, melt additional chocolate chips in microwave on high for :30 second intervals until melted. Dip tops of cones into melted chocolate and smooth around edges with a spatula, decorate with sprinkles. You can even put some of the melted chocolate into the bottom of the cones! Put the cones in the freezer for a couple of minutes so chocolate sets. While waiting, remove ice cream from freezer and allow to sit for a couple of minutes or so at room temperature so it’s easier to scoop. When the chocolate on the cones has hardened, scoop and enjoy!
Makes 4-6 servings, depending on how big your scoops are. Use this base recipe and experiment with your own add-ins to make an ice cream that is truly your own. Love cookies and cream? Add in some broken up chocolate cookie pieces!
