Where can you go to find hundreds of screeching, celeb-crazed tweens as if The Biebs himself just made an appearance? BeautyCon!
Joking aside, I was offered 2 VIP tickets to attend BeautyCon, a beauty and fashion conference in Downtown Los Angeles this past weekend and took my sister Melissa along. The conference features panelists from some of the biggest Internet influentials in beauty and fashion, mainly YouTube stars/gurus. Aside from the screaming girls, we actually had a good time and were able to check out many of the booths. Panelists included Kandee Johnson, Aimee Song, Elle & Blair Fowler, Shay Mitchell, Bethany Mota, Kelly Osbourne and more. We forwent the speakers and sessions— the lines for these were long and tween-filled, not our scene. I’m not even 30 and I felt like an oldie 😛
One of my favorite booths included Mr. Kate’s booth, which had such a cute set up and was filled with her gorgeous jewelry designs —I even got to meet her which was so awesome! I’m loving her hand-painted BeautyMarks, stylish girly yet sophisticated faux tattoos—I picked out a DIY gold arrow for my arm and it stillhas not washed off! Um, can real gold tattoos be a thing, please? She also just launched her watercolor BeautyMarks, they’re so pretty, check them out!
We also headed over to ELLE Magazine’s booth (gorgeous!), where we had Charmsies, cute iron in hair charms, applied to our hair. These are super easy to apply and look so cute—you simply attach the charms to your hair using a straightening iron. Charmsies offers several different styles and even offers a collaboration with Free People.
Another brand I discovered at BeautyCon was Scratch, who offers a Monthly Mani Box filled with limited edition nail wraps (similar to foil but look more realistic, like nail polish), tools, how-tos and nail accents and more. Each month the box is curated by a special guest—past curators include I Spy DIY, Joy the Baker, and Get Nailed.
Scratch offered accent nail wraps made just for BeautyCon—I got the adorable Lipstick (of course!) and Palm Tree designs. Watching the manicurist apply them, I know I can easily do it myself—it was even so easy for her to trim them. Add a top coat and done! If you’re into nail art and love monthly boxes, this one is definitely worth looking into.
* We forgot to snap a pic while there of the cute BeautyCon edition nail wraps. By now they’re not so perfect… I am the worst with manis and chipped nails!
Covergirl offered quick makeovers and manis while a DJ spinned some beats, there was a lash bar, a selfie studio, NYX had a booth that featured a beauty vending machine, there was even a puppy “kissing booth” sponsored by a pet rescue (I did feel bad for the puppies though, it probably wasn’t the best environment for them L), a VIP/Pro lounge and more. Overall we had a good time and it was actually pretty fun hanging out with my lil sis. Here are a few more snaps from the day:
