Start by cleansing your face and gently patting it dry. Standing over the sink (this could get messy!), apply the mask to your entire clean face and around your eye area. If you have any extra, you can store in the refrigerator. Leave the mask on for about 10-15 minutes and relax—do your nails, catch up on emails, or like me, edit the photos for this post.
DIY Honey Oatmeal Acne Mask
I love taking some me time with an at-home spa day—a nice shower or bath, applying a face mask, painting my nails, and just taking some time to relax. For face masks, such as the below DIY Oatmeal Anti-Acne Mask, I typically like to make my own using natural ingredients—they’re quick to mix up and I usually already have the ingredients on hand.
In the past few months, I have discovered the wonders tea tree oil has been working on my chin acne—better than any spot treatment or anti-acne product I have ever used. I have learned about other natural ingredients that contain anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help with acne and breakouts as well, including oatmeal and honey. Who knew?
This honey oatmeal mask is gentle enough to use a couple times a week and is good for all skin types, including sensitive skin, leaving skin soft and helping to clear acne. I do recommend trying a patch test first to see how your skin reacts.
DIY Oatmeal Anti-Acne Mask
Ingredients:
2 tbsp. Ground Oats
2 tbsp. Honey (raw)
½ tbsp.. Lemon Juice (fresh)
3-5 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
To grind oats, put in a blender or food processor and pulse. In a bowl, mix together the ground oats, honey, lemon juice and tea tree oil. Now, dig in- yum, yum. Kidding!!
To remove, wash off the mask using cold water and a washcloth. I recommend doing this over a trash can or sink with garbage disposal as the thick mask could clog sinks.
