I’ve always been fairly good about taking care of my skin, I say fairly because there’s still those nights I’ll go to bed with makeup on… oops! Old habits die hard. On top of old habits, it can be difficult finding a skin care routine and products that work best for you. I have normal-dry skin so what works for me, may not work for you. For years though I have kept a simple daily routine- cleansing and moisturizing- and have gotten much better at a nighttime routine. Here’s my current skin care routine:
1. Cleanse
I’ve heard both arguments for and against changing cleansers often. I’m the type that changes every few months– I like trying different ones to see how they work for me! Recently I started using a Neutrogena Naturals cleanser twice a day and have really been like it– it’s gentle, easily removes my makeup and leaves my skin feeling soft. The cleanser claims to be made with 86% “naturally derived” ingredients, including Peruvian Tara seed, which is rich in Vitamins B & C and helps boost skin’s moisture levels, which my dryer skin very much needs. I’ve also been using the Neutrogena Naturals pore scrub every few days and have been liking that as well. I think I’ll let these stick around for awhile 😛

2. Moisturize
I started using a Clinique moisturizer last year and fell in love, it works amazing on my normal-dry skin. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, blends easily and lasts throughout the day. The only con is that it doesn’t have SPF, which is not a total deal breaker for me since I typically wear a BB cream with SPF, or, if I’m going to be outside, I will top with a high-SPF face sunscreen. Moisturizing is so important, especially if your skin is like mine– it needs hydration!

3. Eye Cream
I have been wearing eye creams for years– the thought of wrinkles is a scary, scary thing for me so anything to take preventative steps I am all over. I know their inevitable, but if I can put them off just a little while longer with an eye cream that works for me.

4. Nighttime Routine
I keep my skin care routine simple at night as well. Just before bed I will wash my face (using the same cleanser or a makeup remover towelette), use a moisturizing eye makeup remover to take off any stubborn eye makeup, and then slather on argan oil on my face and neck. Argan oil is a lightweight oil with conditioning and anti-aging properties used to help moisturize skin– you can apply it to your face, body and hands, you can also apply it to soften cuticles and even apply the the ends of your hair to add some extra hydration and help prevent split ends. It’s pretty much a miracle in a bottle. I have dry skin so it really helps to moisturize my skin at night while I sleep, but I have also heard that argan oil is great for those who have oily skin or are acne-prone.
