I tried a few Lippie Stix and really liked the wear and different finishes, including matte, so when this matte set came out I pounced on it. I really like the array of different shades in the Staycation: Best of Lippie Stix Collection ($25, which includes six of ColourPop’s most popular matte shades:
Cookie: True nude beige in a matte finish
Brink: A warm dusty taupe in a matte finish
Grunge: A cool-toned plum brown in a matte finish
LBB: Rich plum wine in a matte finish
I Heart This: Red based fuchsia in a matte finish
Bossy: Classic blue red in a matte finish
Lately I’ve been hooked on wearing Cookie, but I know come fall I will be all over the darker LBB and Grunge shades. Since the finishes are matte, the formula is a bit more dry so I recommend keeping lips moisturized and to use a lip scrub every few days to get rid of icky dead skin so lips don’t look so dry in the matte formulas.
As with the Lippie Stix set, ColourPop’s Mile High: Best of Super Shock Shadow Collection ($25) includes six popular Super Shock Shadows, including the following shades:
Truth: A neutral light beige eyeshadow with a warm satin finish
Nillionaire: A warm bronze with tons of gold and multi coloured glitter in a Metallic finish
So Quiche: Soft olive with a highly reflective gold and pink violet glittery duo chrome metallic finish
Lala: A true rose gold in an Ultra Metallic Finish
Cricket: A smoky mid-tone plum with warm and cool highlights of soft glitter
Mittens: A deep warm brown with a red violet undertone leaving a matte finish
I already have Mittens and love it- I actually bought it in honor of our cat we lost earlier this year but it truly is a gorgeous color– it looks brown when you pair it with browns and tans, yet more red when paired with pinks and peaches. Definitely not upset about having a double! I’m also really loving Lala right now– then again I’m also all over anything rose gold– and Truth, which is a pretty beige-y pink shade. So Quiche is also SUPER gorgeous– an olive green with hints of pink–it’s a very cool and fun shade. I find that all of these are extremely wearable and can be paired up to create some fun looks and combos.
Top-Bottom: Truth, Nillionaire, Cricket, LaLa, So Quiche, Mittens
Since the Super Shock Shadows are extremely soft, sort of a creamy powder, I recommend applying with your finger or using a brush with syntnetic bristles. Regular makeup brushes just do not work that well with these formulas. Each of these shades can be purchased separately at colourpop.com
Last but certainly not least is ColourPop’s Foxy: Mini Ultra Matte Lip Collection ($18), which contains five best-selling minis from their Ultra Matte liquid lipstick line. While the formula is on the thin side, like their full-sized counterparts these minis pack a major punch in the form of pigmentation. The collection includes the following flat matte shades:
Beeper- warm mid-tone taupe
Clueless- dusty mauve pink
Tulle- dusty mauve burgundy
Creeper- true classic blue red
More Better- deep violet wine
Top-Bottom: Beeper, Clueless, Tulle, More Better, Creeper
I love the mini sizes because it let’s me try out a variety of shades without having to commit to a full-size. I tend to wear more nudes and pinks but it’s fun to experiment with brighter and darker colors ever now and then. As with the matte Lippie Stix, the Ultra Matte Lips are on the dry side so regular lip maintenance and moisturizing is highly recommended. To me, these are longer lasting than the Lippie Stix, I find that the color tends to mostly stay on through eating and drinking. I actually had a hard time getting the swatches off my arm– these did not want to budge! While they do apply easily they do dry super quick. Each of these shades can be purchased in full-size separately at colourpop.com
Overall I am happy with these collections– they’re a great buy, especially for the quality of product, and let me experiment with a variety of shades, many of which, especially the lips, I probably wouldn’t buy on it’s own. Ready to get your hands on one of these sets?
