We took a stroll down the Festival of Lights, which boasts two million lights! There was a cute Victorian village, and North Pole-esque scenes with Santa’s helpers decorating trees, tending to stables, and more. It was super cute and festive!
There is a big ice rink set up in the middle of the event area where skaters can glide around. I tried getting Steve out on the ice with me– he’s actually a pretty good skater– but he wasn’t having it that night so us girls just went. I can honestly say that while ice skating is not my forte, it is fun… but super tiring. I loved watching some of the better skaters circle the rink! If you want to take date night up a notch, there are rink-side VIP cabanas that can be rented out for the night for a fee.
The snow play area was on the lackluster side, but I can see it being fun for smaller kids to build a little snowman or make a snow angel. There are also carnival games and rides, such as ferris wheel, swings and more. There was even a giant rocking horse, which would make some great photo opps! There are eateries with treats (hello, funnel cake!), drink spots (yes, including hot cocoa… and cocktails of course!), a stage for holiday performances and even a petting zoo, complete with a miniature horse- love!
My favorite activity at Winter Fest OC was the Snowflake Summit Ice Slide– I definitely went more than once– it was SO much fun! Each person gets their own tube and slide lane so you can have some friendly tubing competition racing down the slide. We had a great time at this years’ event and can’t wait to go back next year. Winter Fest OC is running now through January 1, 2017. Tickets can be purchased in advanced at WinterFestOC.com, use code AGOODHUE to get $5 off each ticket.
