The Blog Societies Conference
A couple weeks ago I made my way up to Chicago to attend The Blog Societies Conference. Even though it was a working weekend for me, I wanted to build in some time to see a few of Chicago’s musts… including eats of course! Keep reading to find out what’s on my must-see list for Chicago (including a few of the outfits I wore!) during the conference>>

I attended the Chicago conference as a vendor and took part in the vendor fair on Friday- it was so fun to meet and hang out with some of the other attendees (special shout out to Megan @FashionistaMomma for taking these outfit shots!) The next day, I attended the conference and saw speakers such as Shop Dandy, A Southern Drawl, my girl Rachel Martino (the keynote!) and even took part in a brand panel. I always leave conferences like this feeling so inspired and ready to take my blog to the next level, plus it’s always fun to visit somewhere new.
I’ve only ever visited Chicago twice before and both times it was freezing cold and my trips were so quick I didn’t have time to explore. This time around, I wanted to get out and about and see what Chicago had to offer and had a few must-see’s on my travel list. Here’s what was on my MUST list in Chicago:
NAVY PIER

Although it was super busy and touristy, we were able to catch some great views of the city and hang out near the water at Navy Pier. You can find an assortment of restaurants and eateries here, along with a few rides, including this ginormous ferris wheel. I didn’t ride it but I’m sure the views from the top were incredible! Our hotel had a view of Navy Pier and I was able to catch a firework show the last night I was in Chicago- perfect ending to the weekend!
Chicago Riverwalk 
 
Chicago Must See: Riverwalk
I wish I had more time to walk along the Riverwalk, it’s so pretty! It’s definitely a great spot for taking photos, or you can even take a boat ride! There are restaurants, shops and more along or near the Riverwalk, making it a perfect place to take a relaxing stroll.

You just can’t go to Chicago without seeing The Bean at Millennium Park- it’s a must! I decided to head over to the park early, at about 8am on a weekday and it was perfect– there were only a few people there so I was able to get in some good pics without gobs of tourists, so cool!

I have to say, the Skydeck at the Willis Tower was my favorite stop during this trip. Not only are there incredible views, but you can step out and hang over the city on the Ledge in a glass box for unparalleled views of Chicago.  I won’t lie, it was a bit freaky (look straight down, I dare you!), but was also so freaking cool! Such a great moment with Meghan of I’m Fixin’ to Blog, Tilley of Tilley’s Threads, and Kristina of Medicine & Manicures (they’re super fun gals, go give them a follow and check out their awesome blogs!).

Rosé Al lDay: The Hampton Social in Chicago

If you’re a pizza lover, then deep dish in Chicago is a MUST. The night I got in, I headed over to Gino’s East for a slice (or two…)- it was really good but so filling. I ordered a small and was barely able to eat half of it. I’m not a huge crust lover but I had to try it out. As they say, when in Ro.. er, Chicago.

Another must spot for eats and drinks is Hampton Social, which is the cutest beach-themed restaurant and bar in downtown Chicago. You have to try their frosé, a delicious frozen rosé!

3 Arts Club Cafe at Restoration Hardware in Chicago

A great spot in Chicago for a quick lunch with gorgeous ambiance is at Restoration Hardware. Yes, as in the furniture store. Inside the courtyard is the 3 Arts Club Cafe which offers eats, coffee and even a wine bar in a relaxing and casual setting. If there’s a wait, you can always explore the multi-storied RH for home design ideas.

The only place I wanted to try but never made it to was Portillo’s, which is known for their Italian beef sandwiches and Chicago-style hot dogs. However there’s one located in nearby Buena Park, Calif. so I think I’ll have to make a trip over that way just try that one!
