Since I live in Southern California, I don’t really get to experience a true fall season. In fact, it barely started cooling down about a week ago and feeling somewhat remotely like sweater weather. Even though we don’t necessarily get those fall vibes, I still like to give my look (and home) an update for fall. Here are a few ways you can easily (and affordably!) update your fall style>>
Fall Style
Updating your wardrobe for fall doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. You can start by pairing items you already own with new pieces- such as a cardigan (try a pretty blush shade or a deep burgundy) and your fave jeans or a dress.
Another trend I’m seeing for fall is the midi skirt or dress, which can be paired with a cute blouse in your closet and even a blazer. This faux leather skirt would look super cute paired with a plaid button-down or even a cute sweatshirt for a more casual vibe. See how I wore a midi dress this fall.
One of the hottest colors for fall is mustard, a warm yellow goldenrod shade which isn’t always the easiest color to wear if you don’t typically opt for bolder colors. Pick up an item in this shade, such as the sweater above, that can be paired with a variety of other pieces.
Makeup & Skin
I love switching to deeper hues when the season changes to fall and personally tend to reach for more richer browns and taupes, mauves, and deeper lip shades. There’s so many great fall-inspired eyeshadow palettes out now with bold, wearable shades. If that might be too much color for you, start by updating your lip to a eep mauve or burgundy tone.
I also tend to switch up my skincare routine as well, incorporating thicker moisturizing creams, and more mask treatments. With drier winter weather coming and humidity down, my skin needs all the moisture and hydration it can get. I’m always on the hunt for skincare items that have fall-esque complexion-boosting ingredients, such as pumpkin, black tea, and berries.
Home
There’s just something about fall-inspired scents that make a home seem extra cozy during these cooler months. Candles and scent warmers are the easiest way to add some fall vibes to your home. I also like making some updates to my decor, such as with pillows (how amazing is this plaid pillow?), florals and knick knacks around my home. I also place mini pumpkins of different colors and sizes around. Easy and cute!
