I’m starting out 2018 being productive, all. New Year’s weekend I cleaned out my closet, or shall I say closets since the one in my office/studio houses all my sweaters and jackets, the fridge, pantry and even all my makeup, which included a bunch of lip products. I like to start the new year fresh… and I’m making room for new things such as these lipsticks from Glo Skin Beauty, a cruelty-free and paraben-free brand that I was recently introduced to. Continue reading for my review on these lipsticks and what my favorite winter lipstick shades are and how you can pair them with your favorite cold-weather outfits>>
These aren’t just run-of-the-mill lipsticks– the Glo Skin Beauty Lipstick (retail $24) formula is incredibly moisturizing and the pigment is on-point. The lipsticks contain an antioxidant mix of vitamins (A, C and E) along with green tea extract and glycerin to help hydrate and nourish lips, also making the lipsticks themselves ultra-creamy. PLUS they even have mineral sunscreen to offer UV protection, which is especially great if you are concerned with anti-aging. The formula and color vibrancy seems very similar to the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks. The packaging, however, is heftier than their likeness and is actually magnetized which ensures the cap won’t fall off– is especially great when you’re digging around in your purse for them (if I had a quarter for every time I’ve found a cap-less lipstick in my bag…). These lipsticks glide on easily, wear comfortably and I was impressed with how long the lipstick stayed put– I didn’t have to reapply for several hours. The full line offers 16 shades, but here’s a closer look at the four I’m loving most as winter lipstick favorites:
1. Go-To Nude
I have to give cred to the ladies who rock a bold lip all day every day- you go, girl! I, on the other hand, am all about the nudes, especially if they have pinker tones. As soon as I first popped the cap off the Glo Skin Beauty Lipstick in French Nude, I knew it was going to be MY kind of shade as it has this touch of sophistication that makes it a tad chic’er and bougie-er than all my other nude lips… definitely invoking those French vibes. I love that it’s a nude with a warm rose tone and has an easy-to-wear satin finish– I think it would look pretty on a variety of skin tones and would look amazing paired with neutral, blush, white and light outfits, such as my weekend go-to: a white tee and jeans look.
2. A Classic Red
Will a classic red lip ever go out of style? No way! I’ve always been hesitant with reds and it’s still more of a special occasion shade for me or when I want to glam it up. To be honest, a lot of reds, especially blue-based reds, make my small lips look even tinier. Rather hesitantly, I applied the Glo Skin Beauty Lipstick in Bullseye and immediately went ‘Wow!’ I actually really love how this color looks on me, and guess what? It’s a true blue-based red. It’s bold, it’s beautiful and I am LOVING it! Not just for the holidays, I think this shade would be great for anyone looking to add a splash of color to their winter wear. Red lips especially pair well with plaid, whites, (faux!) furs, and grays.
3. That Perfect Pink
Love or hate pink, I think every makeup bag should have a pretty, feminine pink and for me the Glo Skin Beauty Lipstick in Pillow Talk is it. It’s a gorgeous mauve-pink that’s ultra-wearable and just plain pretty. Definitely one of those grab-and-go shades that you can pair with practically everything– neutrals, a dark smokey eye, bold tops, prints, hot pinks and blush tones– and is one you can bring with you into spring.
4. Bring on The Berries
How fun are berry shades?! I love that they can vary between super deep plums to beautiful burgundies to punchy pink hues. Glo Skin Beauty Lipstick in Date Night is that in-between magenta-berry shade that has a cool undertone. While it’s my least favorite shade on me, I think it’s a beautiful shade. With this one, I did have to apply an extra layer to get the true color payoff as it applies just a tab more opaque than the others but the finished result is a very true magenta-berry shade. Berry lips look beautiful paired with a soft brown smokey eye and I love how dramatic they look with darker and edgier outfits.
If you are looking to make some updates to your winter look, I highly recommend trying the Glo Skin Beauty Lipsticks. All four of these gorgeous winter lipstick shade are available from GloSkinBeauty.com and also available on Amazon. Stay tuned for my review on Glo Skin Beauty skincare coming soon!
