Coachella kicks off the official start of festival season this weekend and while I won’t be partying it up in the desert, I like a good festival look with the rest of ’em. I think festivals are a great way to exhibit your creativity and have fun with makeup looks– bright colors, interesting textures and finishes, and looks you probably wouldn’t wear everyday. Or maybe you would, which is awesome. This week I wanted to share three festival makeup looks using Tarte, a brand that is one of my go-to’s for bold color.

These festival makeup looks features a different shade of the Color Splash Shade Shifting Lipstick. When I first saw these shades, they were a little intimidating and so unlike the lip shades I typically wear. A mix of metallics, iridescent, glitters and even duo chrome finishes, I thought these would be absolutely perfect to wear for the upcoming festival season. The colors are so pretty and so fun and allowed me to be a little out-of-the-box with my makeup looks. These shades are also perfect for fun summer looks, I’m definitely going to have fun creating more looks with these!
Each of these makeup looks starts with the same base—foundation or tinted moisturizer with SPF (you MUST have SPF at an outdoor festival) and my go-to Shape Tape Contour Concealer.
Festival Look 1: Pretty in Pink
This look is for the gal who wants something pretty, especially if you’re as rose gold obsessed as I am. This look took me about 20 minutes and is super easy to re-create!
Eyes: With the Make Believe in Yourself Palette, I applied Myth (matte nude) to lids, blending up into the crease. Using a blending brush, blend Crystal, a champagne-esque shade into the crease. Add a touch of bronzey Magic to the outter crease V area and lower lash line. Using a synthetic brush (I use a concealer brush), mist lightly with setting spray and apply Pixie, a shimmery golden pink, to the lid and middle of lower lash line. Apply middle highlight shade (Believe) to inner corners and brow bone.
Apply a dark brown pencil eyeliner to upper lash line and apply eye shadow in Magic over to smudge it out slightly. Finish with a couple coats of Maneater Voluptuous Mascara on lashes.
Cheeks: Apply bronzer to hollows of cheeks, temples and along the jaw to add a bronzey glow to skin. Using a fluffy blush brush, apply a soft pink blush to apples of cheeks (I love Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty). Using a fan brush, apply Believe highlighter shade to tops of cheekbones.
Lips: Swipe Color Splash Shade-Shifting Lipstick in Pink Sand. This shade is a super pretty metallic rose gold shade. The creamy lipstick glides over lips smoothly and is very hydrating– it has vitamins E & A in it to condition lips!
Hair: Wearing Kristen Ess Rose Gold Temporary Tint.
Festival Look 2: Tribal
This look is one of my favorites– I love the mix of gold, bronze and copper metallic eyeshadow shades and this lipstick shade is SO fun!
Eyes: Using the Make Believe in Yourself Palette, I applied Myth (matte nude) to lids, blending into my crease and up towards my brow bone. Next, I applied Magic into the crease and blending up. To add dimension, I then used my wet brush and blended Wings into the crease and lower lash line, I then layered Trance (wet) into the outter V area of my crease. With the wet brush, I then pressed Marvel on top of my lip and made sure everything was nicely blended. I also added this shade to the center of my lower lash line and then lined my inner waterline with it as well (not recommended if you have sensitive eyes!). I then added Believe (wet) to my inner corners and brow bone to highlight and make lids pop.
I used a liquid liner to create a wing and applied Eyelure x KrazyRayeRaye #KrazyGlam lashes. Finally, I swiped Maneater Voluptuous Mascara to my lower lashes.
To create the tribal design, I applied a bindi to the center of my forehead. Using a white eyeliner, I added dots above my brows. Using a fine-tiped wet brush, I applied eyeshadow in Marvel on top of the white.
Cheeks: For this look, I went heavier with the bronzer to contour out my cheeks and applied a peach blush to cheeks. For highlight, I applied Believe highlight shade from the Make Believe in Yourself Palette to tops of my cheekbones, along with Marvel for more of a golden shift.
Lips: Apply Color Splash Shade Shifting Lipstick in Sunlit, an iridescent glitter golden pink shade. This shade is really cool- it looks like a golden nude shade but actually applies as a light pink. It does have an iridescent glitter so it’s probably not one I would wear all the time, but for a look like this it’s perfect.
Tip: Skip the tribal design and add a darker lip to wear this look on a night out!
Festival Look 3: Glitter Glam
How fun (and glittery!) is this third festival makeup look? Yes, I totally got glitter EVERYWHERE while creating this look… I’m actually still finding pieces of glitter in my hair. I feel like this look has some mermaid vibes going on, agree?
Eyes: Using the Make Believe in Yourself Palette, I applied the pretty pearly Mystic shade (wet) to my lids and blending up into my crease. To deepen the crease, I applied Dream (wet) into the crease and center of lower lash line. Using my wet brush, I then applied Fairy, a metallic lavender shade to my lids and lower lashline. I applied Believe highlight shade to brow bone, inner corners and to the center of my lids to add dimension.
I added a pair of Wet n Wild glitter lashes and applied mascara to my lower lashes. Using a brush, I then added NYX Face & Body Glitter in Crystal to sides of my eyes and tops of cheek bone.
Cheeks: For this look, I applied a super bright pink blush to my cheeks. For highlight, I applied a mix of Believe, Pixie in Fairy from the Make Believe in Yourself Palette to give it a holographic effect.
Lips: For this look, I swiped Color Splash Shade Shifting Lipstick in Yacht Week, a bright, glitter magenta orchid shade to lips. I then applied Ocean Floor, a super cool mauve shade with a duochrome shift to the center of lips.
Hair: Wearing Sexy Hair Mermaid Glow Getter Glitter Gel.

You created some cool looks! I would think twice before wearing a bindi as a music festival accessory, though. This article has some good info about the topic http://junkee.com/everything-know-sticking-bindi-head/93321
