Can you believe that Memorial Day is just a week away? That’s pretty much the unofficial start to summer… I don’t know if I’m summer-ready, or at least not swimsuit ready yet. my skin, however, has been looking the most healthy it ever has. This spring, my goal is to put my best face forward by being more strict with my skincare routine and incorporating new at-home beauty treatments with PMD Beauty. Keep reading to learn more about these PMD Beauty tools and why you need to add them to your skin and pampering routine>>
PMD Personal Microderm
The first tool I’m sharing is the PMD Personal Microderm, an easy-to-use at-home microdermabrasion tool offering similar results as microdermabrasion treatments in just 8-12 weeks with consistent use. It’s recommended to use this device once a week and to use in conjunction with your skincare cleansing and moisturizing regimen for best results.
What exactly is microdermabrasion? It’s a facial treatment that uses suction and exfoliation to remove the first layer of dead skin to reveal younger-looking skin. It’s usually a minimally abrasive procedure that basically ‘sands’ off the first layer of skin. Microdermabrasion reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin texture and tone, clogged pores, scarring and more.
The PMD Personal Microderm device comes with 2 different sized caps (small for face & more delicate areas, large for body) and a set of 3 aluminum oxide crystal embedded discs designed for ultra sensitive to sensitive skin for face (smaller sized discs) and body (larger sized disc). The discs spin and gently remove the top layer of skin. Each disc is designed to be used 3-4 times and additional discs may be purchased separately.
While these discs spin to exfoliate, the device also uses a vacuum suction to help increase circulation and stimulate the skin and collagen production to increase the skin’s healing process. This in turn creates skin that is smoother, firmer and brighter.
To use on my face, I start with clean and dry skin. I then load a small disc– my skin is on the softer and sensitive side so I use the discs for more sensitive skin– into the device and replace the small cap. After turning on, I then move the device in an upwards motion across my skin, pulling it taught with my other hand. No pressure is needed as it only takes one pass through each area and I move continuously as to not stop in one area. After using across my entire face, I then apply toner and moisturizer.
The PMD Personal Microderm is really easy to use, especially once you get the hang of gliding it across the skin, it took less than 5 minutes to microderm my entire face. The kit contains a white tester disc that you can use to practice on your arm before using on your face’s delicate skin. I also like that the company offers different discs ranging from ultra-sensitive to intense so you can customize your experience depending on your skin and your skin needs. For instance, if you have coarser skin, you may want to use the intense discs. It’s good to start with the ultra sensitive discs and then move up each week or so depending on how your skin responds.
After using PMD Personal Microderm once, I noticed that my skin did feel smoother and the dry, flaky skin I had around my nose was gone. PMD states that after 8-12 weeks of use, once can start seeing long-term results with a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, dark spots, uneven skin texture & tone and hyperpigmentation. I have some fine lines on my forehead so I’m hoping to see those reduced in the next couple of months while using this device, but I don’t really have dark spots so I won’t be able to speak to that. I am all about anything that makes my skin smoother and helps to exfoliate!
PMD Kiss
Another beauty tool I have been using is PMD Kiss, a lip plumping device that offers anti-aging benefits as well. Essentially the devise uses a a pulsating vacuum technology to plump up lips and boost collagen production, which will help fill in any fine lines on and around the lips. The device is meant to use in conjunction with a specially formulated plumping serum, which comes with the device and can also be purchased on its own.
The PMD Kiss is SUPER easy to use– you can do it while binge-watching your Netflix show, waiting while your guy is getting ready, sitting in the Starbuck’s drive-thru line, wherever! I first apply the provided Smart Lip Plumping Serum onto my lips (make sure lips are clean and dry before applying!). I then place the PMD Kiss onto the first section of my upper lip and power on. The device will pulse, creating a suction on lips. After about 15 or so pulses, I’ll move to the middle section and so on until all four sides of my lips and two middle areas (6 sections total). The entire plumping process only takes a couple of minutes and there is absolutely no pain, just a sucking and pulsing feeling.
While the PMD Kiss doesn’t plump my lips like crazy– no Kylie Jenner lips here– I do notice a slight difference in the fullness of my lips immediately after using this. I do also notice that my lips tend to look darker after using this device. I’ll be continuing to try it out weekly for the next couple of months to see if there is a more noticeable difference in my lips’ appearance. Overtime the device should provide more volume to my lips & boost collagen to decrease lip lines & wrinkles.
PMD Clean
I’ve also been using the PMD Clean, a facial cleansing brush made of silicone that deep cleanses the skin. This cleansing brush has 4 modes, using SonicGlow Technology™ with 7,000 vibrations per minute, for an array of cleansing options… it’s actually pretty fun to use and try out all the different vibrating modes! To use, I wet my face and apply cleanser. I then wet the PMD Clean device and start massaging the cleanser into my skin, gently exfoliating my entire face using modes 1 or 2. Once complete I rinse skin and pat my face dry.
This brush isn’t just for cleansing– you can use it to massage serums and moisturizers into skin as well! Use the opposite side of the brush and modes 3 and 4 for skin treatments. The vibrations will not only allow the serums to be absorbed into skin better, but to stimulate blood flow and collagen production, which is needed for anti-aging. Pretty awesome, right?
