O M G. This past weekend I turned 33 and am officially starting the journey into my mid-thirties. I’ve even become that person asking for home appliances, like a steam mop, for gifts. Who am I?? The 30’s have a few upsides though, keep reading for the five things I actually like about  being in my 30’s, plus more pics and details on this adorable and budget-friendly floral pleated shift dress.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a depressing thought every time my birthday rolls around. I can already start feeling the gray hairs pop up… actually, I have found a few (no!). However, after coming to terms that aging is a part of life I realized that being over 30 isn’t that bad. Here’s why I think being 30+ rocks:

CONFIDENCE

I found that after I turned 30, I really stopped giving a s*** about what others’ thought of me, who didn’t like me or if I wasn’t meeting someone else’s expectations of me. Letting go of these thoughts and not caring has helped me become a more confident person and a more positive attitude overall. By having more confidence in myself, I’ve been able to take advantage of opportunities and experiences that I probably would not have in my early 20’s.

PERSONAL STYLE

Being more confident in my own shoes has helped me to better hone in on and develop my own personal style. One of my co-workers recently commented that I should come with my own style guide because I have a clearly defined style… most of which involves a lot of blush tones. This floral pleated shift dress embodies my personal style perfectly– feminine and flirty. By thirty, I find that you’ve finally figured out your go-to style and what works best for your body type and even what styles you need to stay away from. This has made shopping a whole lot easier and enjoyable. See more of my style here.

MONEY-MATTERS

Speaking of shopping and spending money, I feel that my thirties have been good in that I have more of a disposable income than I did in my twenties. I now have a career, not just a job. I’m no longer scrimping and saving to buy the new must-have lipstick from Sephora (although seriously, what’s with the forty-dollar lipsticks??) Don’t get me wrong, I’m not swimming in bills– I am definitely still budget conscious and not a big spender but I don’t feel (too) guilty when I splurge here and there (such as on this pretty rose-colored Coach bag).

Since turning 30 I’ve also been smarter about my money and what I’m spending it on. I have goals to purchase a house and want to have a comfortable life where I’m not constantly worrying about my bank account– these goals are definitely in the back of my mind when I see that super cute pair of shoes.

HEALTH CONSCIOUS

I don’t think it’s a secret that your body starts to breakdown in your thirties– random body parts ache more, the body takes longer to heal, skin starts freaking out, a piece of bread gives you an extra 5 pounds, hangovers are the absolute worst etc. To me, it’s not necessarily a bad thing because it’s forced me to be more conscious about my health and wellness. I’m a lot more conscious of the foods I consume and taking on healthier habits such as cutting back on drinking alcohol and in-taking more water, vitamins and exercising. Well, truthfully I need to get back on that exercise train since I’ve been off for a while 😛

FRIENDSHIPS

In my thirties, I’ve come to realize who my true friends are and the people that are going to be there for me.  Having friendships as an adult can be tough, everyone is busy working, with their significant other, starting families, or just wanting to be homebodies. It’s funny, in my early 20’s I spent most of my free time with my friends hanging out or going out and these days, it’s spent with my pets on the couch. Friendships definitely take more of an effort, but if it’s with the right people, it’s worth it. I may not talk to my friends everyday, or even every month, but we know it’s so easy to pick up right where we left off as if no time has passed.

I’ll be 33 in July and couldn’t agree more with your 5 good things about being in your 30’s! Honestly, so much YES to all of this, especially to friendships, confidence, and personal style! I’m still working on that whole impulse shoe buying and getting my butt to the gym but we all can’t be perfect 🙂

I agree 💯 about the friendship topic since as we get older, we get busy. But we clearly value the time we do get to spend together and it’s like we were never apart. ☺️

Healthy wise, I remember being in college and thinking I would always party on Saturday night, then I realized I hated feeling horrible in the mornings and that slowly came to an end. 😂

You are beyond beautiful and such a down to earth person! Thanks for sharing these. ☺️

What great things you are starting to think about! Not that thinking about money and health is fun, but they’re important 🙂 It’s funny that you said that you were starting to feel like you were in your journey it your thirties since you asked for home appliances, but you made me wonder because I’m not even 20 and I ask for things like that! lol Have a lovely weekend dear!
