Keep reading to find out what 5 makeup products I could live without plus your chance to win a $800 Nordstrom gift card>>
Colored Mascara
Does anyone actually wear colored mascara?? I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone in colored mascara. To me, it’s just plain weird. Unless you’re heading to a rave or a costume party, save your money and skip the colored mascara.
Lip Masks
I’m all for a good face mask don’t get me wrong, but lip masks? Not so much. Yes, they impart my lips with much needed moisture and some even state they help plump lips but honestly? I can just use lip balm. I’ve tried a couple different lip masks and while they left my lips feeling hydrated and smooth, I found that I could get the same effect when using balm… and I don’t have to sit around with a lip mask on for 15 minutes.
For a quicker lip treatment, apply a lip polish to smooth lips. Wipe off then apply balm to hydrate lips.
Primer
One makeup product that I rarely use in my beauty routine is face primer. My skin is on the drier side so face products tend to stay on really well and I just don’t need the extra product. You also have to be careful with the type of primer that you pair with your foundation– you can’t wear a silicone primer paired with a water-based foundation, the foundation will just flake off the skin.
However, if you have oily skin or large pores, primer can be your bff. If using a primer, I recommend a double-duty primer– one that will color-correct, brighten skin or using a foundation with primer in it.
Clear Brow Gel
Another product that I never use is clear brow gel. Sure my brows aren’t perfect and I could probably benefit from using it but to me, it’s just an extra step I don’t need.
I will, however, use a tinted brow gel. I can fill in, groom and keep my brows in place without applying tons of products. This tinted brow gel even has CBD oil in it. I’m all about makeup with benefits!
Natural Makeup Brushes
Now I know what you’re probably thinking, “Isn’t it better to use natural over synthetic?” Well, in the case of makeup brushes, no. Natural makeup brushes are made with animal hair and often times that hair is not ethically sourced or cruelty-free AND some animal furs can actually cause allergic reactions, especially if you have sensitive skin. I prefer makeup brushes made with synthetic hairs– in fact, right now I’m loving Luxie Beauty brushes.

Colored mascara for me too! actually super colorful anything…eye liner, eye shadow. I’m more of a neutral kind of girl when it comes to eye make up 😉

Agree about the brow gel! Unless a brow gel has a tint to it or I have a brow pencil, there’s no need for it. haha

I definitely can do without colored mascara or any vibrant colored eye liner or eyeshadow…I’m much more of a minimalist when it comes to makeup!

I never really understood clear brow gel and OMG don’t even get me started on colored mascara. Horrific! I tried it once was seriously not a fan.
Colored mascara isn’t really my jam either haha. I guess I’m boring.
I can also live without colored mascara. I use synthetic brushes too! LOVE luxie.
