Summer Beauty Must-Haves

How is it already August?? This summer is just zooming by! Fortunately, I’m in SoCal where summer lasts pretty much until October. Then we go into I-don’t-even-know-what season until spring. Until then, I’m going to continue enjoying the summer season… and my summer beauty routine. Since it’s been SO hot out, I’ve been keeping the makeup to a minimum but with the weather being so dry, my skin needs some special attention. Keep reading to see a few of my summer beauty must-haves and how they’re keeping me glowing all summer long!

It has been SO dry in California, which doesn’t do anything for my normal-dry skin. In fact, I’m looking forward to the humidity of Atlanta later this week when I head out that way for TBS Con! TO keep my skin moisturized and looking plump n healthy, I’ve been using the Josie Maran 3 Step Argan Makeup Prep set. This set includes mini versions of Josie Maran’s 100% Pure Argan Oil, Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter (OMG this is AMAZING!) and Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm.

I first apply the face butter, which leaves my skin feeling hydrated and super soft. I’ll then add a little bit of the argan oil onto my skin to give it some extra dewiness. I love how argan oil dissolves into skin quickly and doesn’t leave it feeling silky. Next, I will sometimes apply the finishing balm which primes and smooths skin. I especially like using this under my eyes and on my forehead to help blur fine lines. This entire set is just $25 and so worth it if you want to try these products before committing to full-size.

I don’t like wearing anything heavy on my face during summer months so I tend to stick to tinted moisturizers. Lately I’ve been reaching for Milk Makeup Sunshine Skin Tint, a super sheer liquid foundation that is weightless and includes a blend of oils (avocado, olive, mandarin and grapeseed) to hydrate skin. Plus, it has SPF 30 for protection. I really like the formula and how easy this is to wear, however I’m not a huge fan of the rollerball applicator.

Another summer beauty favorite of mine is the Milk Makeup Holographic Stick in Mars, a pretty golden peach shade. This cream-based highlighter gently slides over skin and has this really cool holographic effect. During dry seasons, my skin can use all the hydration it can get so I love that this stick is packed with mango butter, coconut oil AND avocado oil (now it’s starting to sound like a tropical smoothie…) and it’s buildable so I can pack it on for a full punch of glow, or keep it light for a pretty, natural-looking glow.

The Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette has summer vibes ALL over it! I’ve been loving peachy and bronze eye shades lately so this palette has been perfect… plus it’s infused with a yummy peach scent… how cool is that? There are 18 shades total ranging from peachy pinks, bronze, corals and purples. I’m a sucker for all things Southern related and love the shade names— Bless Her Heart, Talk Derby To Me, Candied Peach… there’s even a shade with my dog’s name (Georgia)! All the shades are very wearable and can be used to create a multitude of looks.

I’ve mentioned this one before but I just have to reiterate how much I’m loving Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Lip Gloss this season. The gloss is in a stick form and is sheer with a high shine finish without being sticky like a lot of other glosses. It’s very comfortable to wear and keeps my lips hydrated. Uh-Huh Honey, a pretty bronze, has been my go-to shade.
