It’s becoming real, guys. Less than two months until Steve and I say “I do”… is that not crazy or what? While planing this wedding has been fun and joyous, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t stressful at times. What wasn’t stressful was creating our wedding invitations with Minted. I absolutely love how they turned out and it was SO easy to do– I even had custom colors added to truly make our invitations unique.
Keep reading for my top tips for creating your own gorgeous wedding invitations and why Minted is the way to go, especially if you are a bride on a budget>>
Even though you’ve been planning the wedding for months, the invitation is the first glimpse into your wedding that guests will see and making an impact is a must. When deciding on wedding invitation stationers, I had known I wanted to go with Minted. I knew the invitations would be absolutely stunning and high quality, no fuss or fret.
Here’s a few tips I picked up along my wedding invitation design journey:
1. Know Your Budget
I read that on average, wedding invitations can cost about $700. That is insane! If you hav that sort of budget to spend on invitations, more power to you. Our invitation budget was much, MUCH lower.
Keeping in mind that most people will probably throw the wedding invitations out after the wedding, I knew that I wanted something beautiful yet wouldn’t break the bank. With Minted, I was able to find quality, artfully designed invitations at a fraction of the cost as many other stationers. I wanted to find that perfect design for our summer garden wedding and tailor it to how I wanted and stay within budget. Our total cost was just over $200 for 150 invitations WITH free guest addressed printed envelopes to match, which was a total time saver. Time is money, ya’ll!
2. Always Proofread Your Wedding Invitations
Imagine if you sent out the invitation with the wrong date? Or the groom’s name was spelled wrong… awkward! Proofreading is key– I read over mine about 20 times to make sure everything was correct. Don’t forget this important step when it comes to your wedding invitations!
3. Keep It Simple
One of the worst mistakes, to me, is when couples try to cram TOO MUCH information on their wedding invitations. Keep it simple and include the basics and necessary information- your names, date of the event, time, and where it’s taking place. If you have additional notes or registry information, hotel accommodations, etc. include that on a separate notecard. Your wedding invitations will look so much better when not cluttered.
4. Explore a Variety of Types
Minted offers foil designs, letterpress, and an array of fantastic designs. They also offer a ton of colors, fonts, paper stock and more. I suggest requesting their free sample kit so you can explore all the different options and styles that Minted offers. Each sample kit includes five designs printed on premium paper so you know what to expect and help you get started with your invitation design process.
5. Unique Wedding Invitations Suites
With Minted, you have the option of creating an entire invitation suite– from the actual invitation to RSVP cards, menus, matching envelopes, note cards and more! Each design is created by an independent global artist and you can customize your design by including certain colors, fonts and styles. You can find out more about the Minted community here.
I highly recommend Minted for wedding invitations. The entire process was pain free– once I picked my design (the hardest part is choosing the design!) I was able to have it customized to my needs, had my envelopes pre-printed with guest addresses (such a time saver) and they arrived quickly so I was able to get them out in a timely manner.
Not only does Minted create beautiful wedding invitations, but they offer save the dates, holiday cards, photo cards, announcements and more! You can even create a free customized wedding website through Minted.
