Let’s get real… REAL real. During that time of the month, we don’t always feel 100. The cramps kick in, the irritability factor soars and I don’t know about you but personally I don’t always feel fresh. This week I’m sharing my top 5 ways to feel your best during your period and my secret weapon for keeping things fresh with Summer’s Eve!

1. Eat Healthy Foods
Okay, I’ll be first to admit that I become a total garbage gut when I’m about to get my period. No joke, processed cheese is my BFF and I can’t get enough sweets. Did you know that junk food can actually make you feel worse? Curb these cravings and opt for healthier, good-for-you foods and snacks– smoothies with fruits and veggies is one of my go-to’s!
2. Get Fresh with FreshCycle
During my period, I’ll often ask Steve if I smell weird– he always says no but I don’t know if that’s just because he doesn’t want the monster to come out or if it’s all in my head. Either way, I like to make sure I’m always feeling (and smelling!) my freshest and have started using Summer’s Eve FreshCycle products.
Feminine hygiene is important and you don’t want to use any ol’ soap or body wash down there as it could affect your body’s natural flora. Summer’s Eve FreshCycle products are pH-balanced and are specially formulated to be safe and gentle for our most intimate parts.
The FreshCycle No-Rinse Cleansing Foam is gentle enough to use every day and doesn’t even need to be rinsed off! You can simply pump the foam into a piece of toilet paper to clean and freshen up. The scent is soft and fresh–the foam is actually made with a patented odor-reducing ingredient which reduces period odor without dyes, parabens and alcohol. The scent has been clinically tested and deemed safe to use down there without any irritation.
If foam isn’t your thing or you want to freshen up quickly, the FreshCycle Flushable Cleansing Cloths are AMAZING. Like the foam, they have a super light, fresh scent and provide a fresh & clean feeling and remove any unwanted odor. I like keeping my pack on the back of my toilet at home so I can easily freshen up!
3. Grab A Heating Pad
Not going to lie, I love me a heating pad! When the cramps get to be too much and pain reliever isn’t knocking them out, the heating pad helps SO much! You can also use a heat pillow, which you heat in the microwave for a couple minutes, and it’s so comforting, basically like a warm hug. I have one that is lavender scented which offers calming, stress-relief benefits as well.
4. Rest Up!
Getting a good night’s sleep while on your period can make SUCH a difference. For me personally, my sleeping habits will definitely impact my energy levels. Periods are already such an energy drain so it’s important to get that beauty sleep!
If you’re having trouble chilling out, diffuse some lavender essential oil, drink some chamomile or read. Do what you need to do to put yourself in a relaxed state. It’s also best to turn off the TV and put down the phone well before bedtime. Did you know that blue light is known to delay natural sleep-inducing melatonin and increase alertness? No bueno!
5. Get Fresh On-the-Go
Summer’s Eve FreshCycle Flushable Cleansing Cloths are also available individually wrapped and are perfect for on-the-go. They easily fit into your pocket, purses, gym bags and even the glove boxes so you can freshen up pretty much anywhere! During my period I always carry these with me– like the no-rinse foam, these flushable wipes educes period odor with a patented odor-reducing ingredient. I feel confident knowing that I’ll always smell and be my freshest no matter what time of the month!
