I love a good spray tan but when I’m not able to get in to get one, self-tanning products are my next best bet for bronzed, tan skin. For the past couple months I have been using Palm Beach Tan’s Sunsational Collection. This collection includes everything needed from prep to post-tan to get a perfect sunless tan at home!

I have to start by saying that I absolutely love the packaging and it’s tropical vibes. The colors are so summery! I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to try this collection. Palm Beach Tan is my go-to for spray tans and their sunless products do not disappoint.

Tip #1: Exfoliate
To prep for my self-tan, I first use the Sunsational Sunless Body Exfoliant in the shower and shave my legs. It’s important to exfoliate skin and remove any dead, dry skin so your tan can look its best. This exfoliant is gentle yet gets the job done– it feels luxe to apply and feels amazing being rubbed over skin. Once rinsed off, my skin feels super soft and clean!
The exfoliator has a citrusy beach scent and features a natural blend of pumice, quartz, volcanic ash and walnut shell to exfoliate while aloe and glycerin helps to hydrate and smooth skin. I absolutely love this exfoliant!
Tip #2: Prime Skin
The next step in prepping for a perfect self-tan is to apply the Sunsational Sunless Purple Priming Mist. This priming mist helps to boost skin’s moisture levels while proteins help promote a darker and more even tan. The priming water also contains wild indigo and acai as purple colorants to work in conjunction with DHA in the tanners to balance skin tone (read: no orange tones!).
My tan looks better when using this priming water first before applying any self-tanners. I love that it has that lovely citrus scent, antioxidants such as grape seed and blueberry to offer additional skin benefits as well as caffeine to help firm skin and keep it looking youthful. I will definitely continue to use this priming mist prior to tanning!
Tip #3: Apply Evenly
When it comes to applying self-tanner, I opt for mousse products such as the Sunsational Sunless Self-Tanning Mousse. I find that mousse tanners blend into skin easily and develop nicely for the best for an all-over even tan.The mousse has instant bronzers to give skin an instant tan glow as well as DHA, which develops gradually and over time. As with the priming mist, the mousse offers skin care benefits as well and is enriched with collagen, caffeine, acai, apricot, grape seed and blueberry. The mousse has the fresh scent technology with the soft beachy citrus scent to cover up the scent of the DHA
To apply, I squirt the mousse into a self-tanning mitt and rub it over skin. A tanning mitt is truly your bff when it comes to applying self-tanner! I go over my knees, ankles, and elbows last using whatever residual tanner is on the mitt so it doesn’t develop too dark or uneven in those areas. It’s important to blend well so your tan turns out even- no one looks good with a streaky tan!
Palm Beach Tan also offers the Sunsational Sunless Self-Tanning Water, which is a clear bronzing water that develops into a tan. It’s a dye-free option that you just spray it onto skin! I like using the tanning mitt to blend in for an even tan. It develops nicely to give a subtle bronze and smells really good– you wouldn’t even think you are applying self-tanner!
Tip #4: Extend Your Tan
After getting the perfect tan, I want to make sure I can keep it going for as long as possible. The Sunsational Sunless Sulfate-Free Body Wash allows me to cleanse and feel fresh without stripping my tan. I absolutely love the sunny citrus fragrance of this body wash! Although it’s sulfate-free, it lathers up well and feels silky on my body. It contains a hydrating blend to moisturize skin along with sea salt (provides magnesium, calcium, potassium and iron) to nourish skin.
To extend the life of my tan, I apply the Sunsational Sunless Enhancing Tan Extender. This gradual self-tanning lotion hydrates while keeping skin glowing. It has just a touch of DHA, along with a skin-conditioning complex to smooth and moisturize skin. Additional skin benefits include caffeine, vitamin C, and niacinamide to support skin. Like the rest of the collection, it has a nice fresh citrus scent and does not smell like tanning lotion.
This entire collection can be purchased at a Palm Beach Tan salon near you. Tell me, do you use self-tanners?
I’m all for a good sunless tan! I haven’t heard of this line before, but I need to try it!

I’ve never heard of this brand, but I love self tanning so thanks for putting them on my radar! Love how cute and fun their packaging is! xoxo, Sarah
Color me intrigued! These are products that are unfamiliar to me, but now I’m totally wanting to purchase the whole line. The primer and extender are probably the best-sounding items in this collection. I appreciate all the information on these! So needed during the summertime!
I haven’t heard of this brand, but I am definitely a self tan aholic. I love self tanning 1-2 times a week through self tan serums, drops, moisturizers etc. I’ll have to try this brand since I’ve tried so many!
I have always wondered how self tanning works. I have a year round tan 🙂 so I don’t use any tanning but it’s so interesting to learn about these.

Exfoliating is SO important during the summer. My skin always has excess buildup from sunscreen!
The packaging is so much fun!! I haven’t tried sunless tanner in ages, I’ll have to look into this!
