Must-Read Holiday Books
The Christmas Escape
Ready to escape this holiday season? In The Christmas Escape by Sarah Morgan, main character Christy is excited for an upcoming trip to the Laplands with her family and bff, Alix. However, with strains on her marriage, Christy decides it’s best to take some alone time with her husband. She lets her daughter go with Alix and Zeb on the trip, with plans to meet them all there on Christmas day. However, Alix, having relationship issues of her own with Zeb, isn’t too keen on the idea and always letting Christy step over her. Will this put their friendship… and respective relationships… to the test?
This heartwarming and festive Christmas read is perfect to get cozy with a warm blanket, a holiday candle and Christmas tunes playing softly in the background.
Sisters of the Great War
If historical fiction with strong female leads is up your alley, Sisters of the Great War by Suzanne Feldman is a must read. As World War I wages on in Europe, two Maryland sisters, Ruth and Elise volunteer for the war efforts. Stationed in Belgium as a nurse, Ruth learns the hard way that she can’t help everyone. Her sister, Elise becomes a driver and mechanic for an all-female Ambulance Corp., ultimately finding her purpose and creating lasting friendships.
While this story is fiction, it is inspired on real woman whose roles, and sacrifices, in the Great War were just as important as those on the battle lines.
The Mother Next Door
When it comes to holiday books, thrillers might seem an odd choice. However, as a thriller lover, these are the books I would most like to see under the tree! The Mother Next Door by Tara Laskowski is a domestic thriller focusing on a group of five neighborhood moms along Ivy Woods Drive. The group is excitedly planning their annual Halloween block party, including the newest mom in their group. Suddenly, threatening anonymous letters start showing up. As long buried secrets are threatened to be exposed, the five must figure out who among them is loyal… and who is not.
I’m looking forward to finding out what sort of threats are made. Will the Halloween block party happen? With a twisty plot and domestic suspense, this is one thriller I can’t wait to curl up with!
Sleigh Bells Ring
If you prefer the feel-good romantic holiday books, Sleigh Bells Ring by RaeAnne Thayne is just for you! Main character Annelise decides to bring her niece and nephew to Angel View Ranch, which was once owned by her grandfather before he sold it to a billionaire. Annelise, now the caretaker of the ranch, wants to make the holidays special for her family. Only to her surprise, Tate Sullivan, the current owner’s grandson, arrives shortly before Christmas with plans to sell the ranch. As they ready the house for market, attraction between them begins to intensify. Will Annelise give in to the man who is about to put her out of a home and a job?
I love some holiday romance! I’m looking forward to diving in to find out what happens to the ranch…and the sparkle between Annelise and Tate! If you love a good Hallmark or Netflix holiday movie, you will love this! Grab a cup of hot coca and get cozy with with this magical Christmas read.
Whether you’re reading these for yourself, as a book club pick or gifting to a special book lover, these books are sure to get you in a cozy and festive mood.
