Enhance Your Space
As a Taurus, cozy home vibes are my thing. I want my space to be comfortable and inviting, but still aesthetically pleasing. I like to change out my decor for the seasons and will retire pieces that seem to tired in place for something new. Just adding a throw pillow can make such a difference!
Candles are my go-to for instant space enhancers. I love finding candles that not only smell amazing but are a piece of decor in their own right. FEBE Candles offers vegan, eco-friendly coconut wax candles encased in gorgeous gold jars. The ‘Bubble Bath’ scent is the ultimate for relaxation. This hand-poured candle features lavender, pear and bergamot, its warm while still smelling fresh.
Set the Mood
Lighting is key and new lightbulbs can make such a difference in refreshing your home. We use the Phillips Hue smart lights in almost every room in the house and love that we can set colors for different vibes and moods. With these, you can create a cozy and inviting atmosphere with a warmer light setting or switch up the colors depending on your vibe, the season or even holidays.
Clean It Up
No home refresh is complete without a good clean! I like to use the time between Christmas and New Year’s Day to clean up. This includes general cleaning but also going those extra steps– cleaning all the pet hair gathered behind the couch and hard-to-reach spots, getting the built-up grime out of the coffee maker, giving cabinets, handles, switches, knobs a good wipe down.
Chemical cleaners can be harsh, not just for me but on my pets as well. I’ve been looking into more natural-based DIY cleaner recipes and found one in The Witchy Homestead– find out more about this book here!
Liven Up Your Space
During the colder months, I tend to spend more time at home so creating a space I want to live in is important. I put up a pretty tropical wallpaper in my office to give it more personality and have been adding more pops of color throughout the house. You can liven up your space with colorful rugs, fun artwork and even wall colors to make your space more cheerful.
I received a Crosley turntable for Christmas and I set it up a fun music corner in the living room. It helps give the space personality and brings me joy as well!
Get Organized
I am big on de-cluttering and have been trying to be more mindful of what I purchase and less materialistic. When it comes to my home refresh, I like to go through and get rid of things I don’t use, are broken, don’t fit, or just don’t need. If it doesn’t bring me joy– it’s gone!
Since our house is on the small side with not a lot of storage, I have to be smart with my organization. There’s not a lot of linen closet space for blankets– rolling them and putting them in a basket was the perfect solution! Plus, it helps make my space look more cozy so a total win-win.
